Design interested me from a very early age and it was this passion that led me to study industrial design at University. Initially I started out designing furniture, but what actually appealed to me from the very beginning were shoes. As a result, I changed direction and decided to specialise in footwear, starting my new passion with a master’s programme in Mallorca. After completing this course, I was lucky enough to stay on the Island and I went to work for Camper.  That was 7 years ago.

From my perspective there really isn’t that much difference between designing furniture and designing shoes. Basically, it’s just designing something with volume.

When I´m working, I try to create shoes that I think the people around me would like to wear. I also really think about what our Camper customer loves and, for many of them,Peu is an iconic Camper shoe.

The idea behind the Peu Rumbo was to combine the iconic elastic-lace design with the fresh versatile look of a vulcanised sneaker.

Because Peu is a Camper classic, every season we try to incorporate new ideas to bring something new to the concept. For me, the most fascinating thing about the Peu line is its elastic fastening system, which had never been used by anyone else before. Combined with its clean lines and anatomical last, it makes Peu one of my favourite shoes.

The name was chosen because we wanted to unite the concepts of Peu with the new idea of ´Rumbo´. In Spanish, “rumbo” is the direction in which we are heading, the course we are taking.  And “Peu” means “foot” in Catalan. It seemed great to blend these two ideas together because Peu Rumbo is undoubtedly a shoe that can take you anywhere. For now Peu Rumbo only is available as a men’s shoe, but for next season we’re working on a version for women.

I think this model is great because, in addition to being very comfortable and easy to wear, it’s also a shoe with personality. The leather says quality, the organic cotton lining keeps you cool, the system of elastic laces makes it very easy to slip on, and finally, this vulcanised shoe has been stitched to make it more durable and to add a handcraft look.

Overall, I really believe that Peu Rumbo works well with many looks, so the best way to wear them is with a laid-back attitude and a bounce in your step.
