“First surprise, then fascinate and, finally, convince” Javier Mariscal

Throughout the summer, the Museo ABC proposes to immerse the audience in the universe of the “Mariscal factory”. A trip from his origins, with characters as mythical as the Garriris, iconic images such as the Barcelona, his collaboration with Camper where he designed the complete Camper for Kids corporate image, to end up dancing with the protagonists of the Oscar-nominated feature film, Chico & Rita.

The show makes it possible to sneak into the heart of the creative process and the vital impulse which generates the activity of Javier Mariscal and his team. Mariscal, a complete and multifaceted artist, has based his works in the graphic and industrial design and other artistic fields, such as painting, sculptures or illustration.

In order to explain the multidisciplinary nature of all his works, this exhibition, conceived as a large installation, shows his complete trajectory in a space crowded with projects. The dialogue established among the different specialties of design, media and techniques, contributes with the keys of his recurrent creative themes. And his language, methodology, the character of his work, and his intentions and attitudes are shown with the author’s own nerve, sensibility and effectiveness.

The exhibition MARISCAL IN MUSEO ABC will be open throughout the summer until mid-September. Open to the public since 19 June.

The venue of Museo ABC is located in the heart of Madrid. It has been conceived as a living, open and plural centre dedicated to drawing and illustration in all its aspects on a modern and surprising building of near 4,000 square metres.

It is a unique proposal in Spain and also in the Continent which aims are clear: presenting and preserving the Colección ABC, as well as developing a wide cultural program (temporary exhibitions, workshops, conferences, lectures, debates or announcement of prizes, grants publishing…).

There is space for the pen, but also for the pixel. The centre aims to focus on the latest trends and most interesting creative proposals, starting ways to provide the production and promotion of contemporary drawing and illustration, so that a large number of artists have access to public broadcasting of their work.

Special Thanks to Museo ABC for the information and photos!
