Every year, the Camper Workshop brings a hand-picked group of young designers from all over the world to Son Fortesa, our idea factory in Alaró, Mallorca, where they live and work together for several days to come up with new concepts for footwear.

Under the theme imPERFECT FUTURE, this year’s workshop aimed to explore the idea of imperfection through “accidents” that occur in the creative process.

The young designers chosen for this edition hail from Japan, The Netherlands, France, United States, the Czech Republic and Georgia.

At Son Fortesa they freely experimented with new concepts for footwear, and the experience and its final outcome was recorded by other promising young talents in the communications field, also selected in advance. This year, the guests invited to handle the graphic and recording aspect are the Czech lads from Okolo Studio.

The 2014 Camper Workshop began on 17 July and ended on Friday, 25 July, when the results were unveiled at Son Fortesa. Participants presented their creations in an installation devised especially for the occasion by designer Diego Ramos and Sander Wassink, which was built while the workshop was going on with cutting-edge 3D printers loaned by RepRapBCN, a division of Fundació CIM associated with BarcelonaTech (UPC).
